Goldman Sachs invests in the sports sector and establishes a dedicated acquisitions group

The renowned American financial institution sets its sights on transactions related to acquisitions in the field of sports.

Goldman Sachs is focusing on the world of sports. The prestigious U.S. investment bank has indeed formed a team of experts specializing in mergers and corporate acquisitions, with a particular focus on the sports industry.

According to Financial News, the investment bank has appointed Dave Dase and Greg Carey (formerly responsible for Goldman Sachs’ sports finance division and executives who handled bond issuances for both Inter and other companies) as co-directors of its new financial advisory division in the sports sector.

The new in-house group dedicated to sports will specifically focus on the entire global sports landscape, including major sports disciplines, federations, leagues, franchises, clubs, as well as companies active in the sports media, entertainment, and technology sectors, as indicated in an internal statement quoted by Financial News. Currently, Dase is responsible for the Southwest region of the United States at Goldman, while Carey (who recently gave an interview to Calcio e Finanza on stadium-related topics) serves as the president of the public sector and infrastructure.

Stacy Sonnenberg will continue to oversee Goldman’s sports-focused financial unit, while Mike Kenworthy will lead operations in the Americas.
