JP Morgan ready to invest in Serie A with a figure of one billion euros.

JP Morgan is interested in financing Italy’s Serie A, Reuters reported. During a closed-door meeting, the 20 Serie A clubs were informed of the interest of the US bank.

The anonymous source cited by Reuters says that JP Morgan could make available a loan of between 700 million and one billion euros, with the aim of obtaining the television rights of the championship starting from the 2024 season. Furthermore, there would be other funds investment that monitor the situation.

Serie A is preparing a tender for the sale of national and international television rights for seasons after 2024 and seeks to increase revenues through the creation of a media unit, which could attract external investors. JP Morgan, which had already expressed its willingness to support Superleague football clubs, is interested in financing Serie A together with other investment funds.

Searchlight Capital of New York and a group led by Carlyle Group Inc had already expressed an interest in buying the Serie A television rights by the end of 2022. Apollo Global Management is also interested, as reported by Reuters. Serie A clubs will discuss on 24 February how to respond to approaches from JP Morgan and other funds, including the possibility of appointing a financial advisor.

Prior to this meeting, the clubs will discuss the media rights sale process in mid-February, which is expected to begin later this year.
