Serie A warms up the engines: what to expect from next season.

Not long before the start of the Serie A 2022-2023 championship which will begin on August 13th and in recent weeks the attention of fans and professionals are all turned towards the football transfer market which, as usual, is giving several surprises. Compared to a few years ago, we have globally seen a general downsizing and this trend is even more marked in Italy where there are very few teams that can afford to complete relevant operations.

From Juventus to Roma: the teams that are spending the best

After having ventured with the purchase of Cristiano Ronaldo, who arrived in Turin in an attempt to bring the Champions League back to the shadow of the Mole after more than 20 years, Juventus was forced to revise their plans and ambitions. The sale of Ronaldo to Manchester United was followed by the farewells of De Ligt, Dybala and Bernardeschi in an attempt to lighten the salary and create salary space.

Salary space is readily used by the purchases of Pogba and Di Maria who are, without doubt, two players able to shift the balance and significantly raise the technical level of the team coached by Max Allegri who, especially in the offensive department, has little to envy to anyone. One of the teams that are investing best on the market is undoubtedly the Roma of José Mourinho who, after closing for Dybala, in the last few hours has also reached an agreement for Andrea Belotti who arrives on a free transfer and will receive a salary just over 2 million euros per year. The Giallorossi under Friedkin’s management is a regenerated Club both from a financial and a sporting point of view: the exit from the stock exchange, the investment in digital and e-sports like other European Clubs, the stadium project that is finally coming to be reached, make the Giallorossi one of the most interesting Italian clubs in the future and there is great interest in discovering whether, in the end, Mourinho will succeed or not in the enterprise of bringing back to the capital a title that has been missing for more than 20 years.

Inter is struggling, and Milan is waiting for the right opportunity

The two protagonists of last year’s championship fight, namely Inter and Milan, are instead among the leading teams who are moving with greater caution. Both are recovering after having gone through a bad period from an economic and financial point of view and both are trying to achieve only and exclusively sustainable operations in the medium to long term. So far Inter has managed to secure Lukaku’s sporting performances, with the Belgian who returned to Milan after a year in London and reinforced the midfield with the arrival of the young Asllani and Mkhitaryan. Milan, on the other hand, has only managed to close two deals at the moment: the Belgian attacker Origi has already arrived at Milanello in recent weeks, who in his experience on British soil has shown great potential. Only in the last few hours, after weeks of difficult negotiations, Maldini has managed to close for the young Belgian midfielder De Ketelaere who arrives in Milan to carve out a place as a starter despite the competition in that area is fierce. After having resolved the issue linked to the timeshare, Aurelio De Laurentiis is doing everything to improve the squad available to Spalletti after the departures of Insigne, Mertens and Koulibaly.

In Naples, there is not an excellent situation, but the widespread feeling is that even this year the Neapolitans have all the resources necessary to be in the top positions. In an anomalous market session in which no one has been able to invest important figures, the difference will be made by the courage and competence of the interpreters of this football transfer market, and we can’t wait to find out who will be right in the end.
